Baby Sunscreen – Zinc Oxide Bulk Gallon Size

Mineral, reef-considerate protection made with 25% non-nano zinc oxide. Broad-spectrum UVA/UVB SPF 35, fragrance-free, and designed for high-use environments like daycares, schools, hotels, camps, and large families. Made in the USA.

Lead time & special-order policy: Our gallon size is made to order and usually ships within 1–4 weeks. Because gallons are special-order items, they are not eligible for returns or discount codes. Volume pricing is available starting at 4 gallons. Please contact us for details.

Why choose this sunscreen

  • Mineral-only UV filter: 25% non-nano zinc oxide for broad UVA/UVB coverage.
  • High-capacity format: 128 oz bulk size for institutions and large families.
  • Water resistant: Up to 60 minutes for pool and beach use.
  • Simple formula: Short INCI list, fragrance-free, designed for sensitive skin.
  • Visible application: Thicker lotion helps confirm coverage on kids in group settings.

What you’ll notice

First use – Thick, durable lotion that leaves a light visible film so you can see where it’s applied.

Day 7 – Easier, more consistent coverage routines in shared-use settings.

Day 30 – Fewer missed spots and more confident application for kids and staff.

How to apply

  1. Shake to mix. Mineral actives settle naturally; shaking ensures even coverage.
  2. Dot in sections. Apply small amounts per area for easier blending.
  3. Spread thin. Create an even, breathable layer; a light white film is normal.
  4. Reapply every 2 hours or after swimming, sweating, or toweling.

Solid sunscreen! A little goes a long way. We needed an extremely clean formula due to eczema issues. This one is perfect only being 6 ingredients and made without shea, coconut, fragrance, etc. It is a thick white paste that is hard to blend in and will definitely be noticeable, but it was worth the sun protection and avoiding a flare. We also used this for other members with vitiligo and needing ultra protection against the non-melanated areas. Everyone brought their own sunscreen, but still gravitated toward this throughout the week. Will definitely purchase again!

Moisturizing and effective

My skin was still very itchy and dried out/peeling from being burnt when I used this product. Not only did it prevent sunburn but it also gave me some itch relief and re-hydrated my skin a bit. Use sparingly... the instructions say to "apply liberally" but this stuff is thick out of the bottle. Shake it well or kneed it and then smear it till it's thin and you can "see" it but not feel it.

Works well

Works well. Somewhat difficult to rub in. Extremely expensive, but considering it’s probably the cleanest formulated organic sunscreen you can find, I’m willing to pay the high price to feel comfortable with what I’m putting on my baby’s skin.

Sun is stronger, but Waxhead can handle!

Back again to let you know Waxhead is still doing the job. 6 months later, after another hot (getting hotter) summer under the blazing (more blazing) Hawaiian sun, and it's keeping me alive. Latest dermatology exam showed no new lesions where Waxhead was applied. Had two small pre-cancer spots on back of my throwing hand that I didn't put any on while playing softball. Luckily, a blast of liquid nitrogen froze them off, and I'm good to go for another 4 months. But Waxhead will cover all exposed skin from now on. Especially helpful on nose, ears, and neck. Also comforting to know that whatever washes off when swimming or surfing is not harming the ocean.Climate change deniers can stick their heads in the sand, but better spread Waxhead on their butts, because the sun is definitely stronger and UV rays more intense.Burn, baby, burn is not just a phrase from the 60's!*************************************************************************************************************************That headline is no joke. Waxhead Skin Defense is the most effective sunscreen I've ever used and believe me, after 35 years in the Hawai'ian sun, burning and peeling more times than I can count, and 17 skin-cancer surgeries, it's no hype. No other brand I've used comes close in preventing further damage. 5 years of Waxhead with no sunburns are proof.Yes, it does take extra effort to spread on your skin and leaves a slight white tinge. But that's because the 25% zinc oxide is providing the needed protection and the beeswax and extra virgin olive oil are helping keep it in place. If you knead the tube before use to the right consistency and rub it in properly, a little goes a long way. And you won't look like a mime. More importantly, you won't look like a lobster two hours later. Or have to see your dermatologist four times a year.So I only gave it 4 stars for ease of application, but would give 6 stars if possible for value and sun protection. If there were categories for all-natural ingredients and environmental safety there'd be two more 6's.

You will look like the undead, but remain the unburnt.

Look, I’ll cut straight to the chase: I wore a sarong, a cover up over my suit, a wide brimmed hat, and sunglasses, and slathered this all over my body. As I tend to favor dark colors, I basically looked like Wednesday Addams on the gulf coast beach we stuck our pop-up on. But as I have burned pretty badly in the past, especially in locales closer to the equator (I’m looking at you, Jamaica), I decided enough is enough. It was time to stop giving a s**t about seeing zinc sunblock on my skin and whether I looked like the walking dead, and to start giving a s**t about skin cancer from the damage, which has the potential to literally make me one of the walking dying.Granted, I was under the shade most of the day, but I was also not for significant chunks of time. I also was sweaty and it was June in the Gulf of Mexico, and I helped my kid build a sandcastle in the full blazing 12 pm sun (who doessss that???) I reapplied a few times; this does rub off against rash guard sleeves, straps, etc. However, every sunblock does that.My husband wanted to be a Cool Guy and use the chemical big-brand spray stuff on his legs. I felt a little sorry for him as the wind cut through the beach and most of it blew away before it hit his skin, but I let him make his sovereign choice. By the end of the day, those were the spots that were roasted...his zinc-blocked spots were fine. He admitted at the end of the trip: “Well, you can tell which one actually works.” Yes, yes you can.The only complaint I have (which I posted on my review of the kids version of this sunblock) is that it seems wasteful to market separate products that are the same ingredients and I’m guessing the same formula. If they’re different formulas, it would help to know that, but I would have been happier carrying one mondo tube of this for the whole family vs. two smaller tubes of environmentally unfriendly plastic. Simplicity here would be helpful! I also purchased the stick, and liked its thicker coverage for some things (nose, scalp, ears, etc) but the “oh look, a mime” factor on that is pretty high. This was my preferred version of the sunblock as it’s easier to slather on the whole body. Great ingredients and I look forward to seeing how this company evolves. My favorite zinc sunblock I’ve tried; will buy again!

Works, but you will be white af

This stuff works great for blocking the sun, it just makes you very white. It will also give your beard/hair a “salt and pepper” look, but who doesn’t need to look a little wiser sometimes

Not Great for Surfing

Applied it pretty heavily prior to surfing from 9-11am in the morning (late August). Got a pretty good burn on my face and neck despite the application. My Banana Boat 50 Waterproof works better - I guess there may be a reason that add the harmful chemicals....

Good Sun Protection

This seems to be water resistent, I went in the pool and didn't get burned. My husband doesn't like it because it leaves you with a white cast, but if that means I'm not putting a lot of harmful chemicals on my skin and works, then I'm good with it. The fact that it is reef safe and biodegradable gets a big thumbs up too!

Coconut allergy SAFE!

BEST SUNSCREEN EVER. I am allergic to coconut. It’s so hard to find a sunscreen without it. It’s actually made with olive oil and the entire ingredient list is very clean.. and it actually works!!

Great Item

As advertised, arrived quickly. Product covers well, no harsh chemicals. Be careful, it will rub off and get on things. Is a little hard to get off, takes a good soap and water scrub, maybe 2. Despite this, I love it, because it is natural. It is a physical barrier not a chemical barrier. Reflects UVA and UVB. I fight skin cancer so I cover with sport fabrics and use Waxhead on exposed areas like lower legs and face.

Works for Chemically Sensitive

I have multiple chemical sensitivity / extreme sensitivity to smells, so I am happy to find ANY sunscreen that I can wear. I usually can't wear any sunscreens even when they say "fragrance free". This one I can wear with no issues, even on my face. A couple of tricks for use: Kneed contents of tube thoroughly BEFORE use to keep the sunscreen mixed. Dab TINY amounts on skin at a time to avoid looking "white". A little bit goes a LONG way. Very worth the extra effort and price if you truly want chemical free! Thanks for making these sunscreens!

Solid Product that is Safe for Kids/Adults/Environment AND Effective for Sun Protection!

We recently found Waxhead and brought a selection of their products for our annual beach vacation. Turns out, we LOVE this stuff! It's safe and effective. The zinc sunscreen is white and will turn you white, BUT rub it in good and it does lessen the white factor. Would rather be stylin' with white tint than suffering with burnt skin. It's a bonus that this sunscreen is safe for the environment and for baby/kids/grandma etc. We all used this sunscreen and were very pleased. Also, love supporting a small business that cares and is doing what they can to provide a product that is much needed!

Great mineral sunscreen

Love this sunscreen. Spread it by putting dots on your skin then rub diligently and it almost goes away completely, very little white “ghost” look. Doesn’t stain clothes, lasts a long time, stays pretty well in the water, doesn’t cause breakouts on your face. Good product!

It Works!

I purchased this sunscreen because of the few safe ingredients it contains. I used it for a day of hiking in Bryce Canyon National Park. Yes, I did have a faint white residue on my skin but I didn’t get burned either. I might have used too much. It did wash off easily enough for me.

Protected us and didn't cause a rash!

I bought the stick version last year for travel on an airplane and really liked it, so I bought this version to try. I find it easier to apply than the stick- my kids tend to walk out with a couple of circles not rubbed in when they use the stick. We are super fair- so the sunscreen making us white is not really a problem. I would recommend trying the tinted- maybe even mix the the two??? to get a shade that matches your skin. The best part was no rashes after 8 straight days of use in the Florida humidity. Every other sunscreen we have tried has caused a rash.

Stays white on the skin

I work out doors and the sun is my biggest hurdle each day. This product does its job very well. No burns and no sun poisoning. That said I knocked off one star since it does stay very white on the skin and will not rub out to clear. I understood this buying the product and it does a better job because of it in all likelihood but I wish it did rub in clear. For the price, you don't need much to cover an area. One dollop does one arm. still a little pricey.

Really nice product. My girls and I were in the sun for about 6-7 hours and didn't reapply. No redness after the whole day. Love the non toxicity. It doesn't smell like every other pina colada cream on the market. Going to try the vanilla stick next.

This is a thick sunscreen that leaves you looking a bit pale/white. Takes a lot of rubbing in to make it part of your skin but I like that it's safe for the reef and ocean.

Best I've found

I tried numerous other zinc oxide sunscreens and they all gave me a rash. I assume it was because of one of the added plant extracts. This product does not have any added extracts and does not give me a rash. Ordinary sunscreen, which does not use zinc oxide has chemicals which are bad for the ocean and bad for your skin. The downside of this product is that it is expensive and does not rub in well, so it makes your skin white.

Only sunscreen I use. Clean, simple and non-toxic. Very effective.
